Muizenberg
Muizenberg's white sands, which curve for 40 km (25 miles) around False Bay as far as the town of Strand, rightly earned the town it's status as the country's premier holiday retreat in the 19th century. Cecil John Rhodes, prime minister of the Cape Colony from 1890-5, started a fashion trend when he bought Barkly Cottage in Muizenberg in 1899.
