Accommodation in Hermanus &The Overberg

The Cape's 'Coastal Garden' runs from Muizenberg, around Cape Hangtklip through Betty's Bay and Hermanus to Danger Point, Cape Agulhas and onto Arniston.

Hermanus has grown from a rustic fishermen’s village to being acknowledged by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) as one of the twelve best whale viewing sites in the world. From its rocky cliffs, whales can be seen from as close as five metres.

The Southern right whales start arriving in Walker Bay from June and have usually left again by December. The peak whale season, when sightings are virtually guaranteed on a daily basis, is during September and October. Calving season is August and September and the whale population peaks in Walker Bay during October.

The Overberg region is home to the first internationally recognized Biosphere in South Africa - the Kogelberg and is home to 1600 different plant specie.  The Blue Crane - South Africa's National Bird- can be found in the fields of the Overberg.  Visit Hermanus - heart of the Whale Coast.
